Welcome to SuMa-eV !

The world's digital knowledge is becoming increasingly concentrated on the Internet. It's essential that this knowledge is accessible for everyone, something which search engines play a vital part in (see our Guidelines for details).

Therefore we have founded a nonprofit organisation to help secure free access to the knowledge and information embodied in the Internet: "SuMa-eV", the official title has been: "Association for the Promotion of Search Engine Technology and Free Access to Knowledge". In 2009 we changed this title to: "SuMa-eV - Association for Free Access to Knowledge", to include any forms of technology gaining access to knowledge. (The short name SuMa-eV derives from the abbreviation of the German word for "search engine", Suchmaschine).

Further projects and information about SuMa-eV is available at:

  • SuMa Awards, yearly given to projects boosting the spread of digital knowledge
